Members' Services

Regina Downtown offers a wide range of member services to its members, visitors, patrons and neighbourhood guests.

Our four pillar service areas are: Core Member Services, Advocacy, Planning and Development, and Events.

AmbassadorKiosk Our Core Member Services represent the bulk of the services we provide. We continue to work hard on behalf of our members to offer consistently good services and we’re always looking for ways to improve these services. Our Core Member Services include the following:

Clean Team

We’re happy to announce our partnership with Phil-Can Building Services who will be providing our Clean Team services this year. The Clean Team ensures Downtown is a welcoming environment by providing litter and trash removal, cigarette butt removal and prevention, graffiti reporting and removal, as well as street light outage reporting.

Downtown Ambassadors

Our Downtown Ambassadors act as a hospitality service to our visitors and provide tourism and event information, as well as local attraction and amenity information to guests and citizens. Downtown Ambassadors are also well versed in Downtown history.

Our Ambassadors also serve as additional “eyes and ears” for the Regina Police Service by being watchful of risks to safety, the public, businesses, and public property. Keeping safety top of mind, our Ambassadors offer safewalks to anyone in the district who requests one. They are also trained in mediation techniques.

You can spot the Ambassadors walking around Downtown and managing our new "Info on the Go" kiosk all summer long – look for the friendly people in “Downtown” uniforms and be sure to say hello!

Neighbourhood and community outreach

Regina Downtown liaises with social service agencies and groups to research and/or deliver programs that assist at-risk groups and in areas of social need.

We offer safety and security presentations in conjunction with the Regina Police Service. These presentations include tips and tools for feeling secure and comfortable in different situations, including walking to your car at night or after work.

Marketing and promotions of events and businesses

Got a great sale or fundraiser? Are you hosting an event Downtown? Give us a call and we will help you promote your event through our Facebook page, website, and e-newsletter.

Throughout the year we also undertake marketing and advertising campaigns to promote the unique Downtown neighbourhood and all the great things it has to offer. We market the Downtown as a destination – somewhere that has something for everyone!

We also create a variety of publications unique to our Downtown – our Downtown Map and Dining Guide are favourites among visitors to the city.

Advocacy Regina Downtown BID is the advocate for Downtown interests. We are here to advocate on behalf of our members and for our neighbourhood. This work includes:

Liaising with different levels of government;
Advocating on behalf of our members on key issues affecting Downtown;
Hosting the Downtown Dialogue series where we invite various groups of people including business owners, restaurateurs, and more to join us in themed, informal discussions about Downtown issues;
Business recruitment and retention – Regina Downtown collects and analyzes economic and demographic data, conducts membership surveys and works with economic development organizations, developers and investors to recruit and retain businesses.
Leading and monitoring public relations. We monitor the media and maintain relationships with members of the media regarding issues affecting Downtown.

In 2009, Regina Downtown acted as a key stakeholder during the consultation process for the Regina Downtown Neighbourhood Plan, passed by City of Regina council in September of that year.

Planning-Development Regina Downtown is also involved in streetscape and neighbourhood enhancement. This work includes projects involving the public realm and its enhancement (i.e. the decorative light cap design you can find around Downtown is a project we undertook in 2007). We are also currently working on a strategy to replace the holiday decorations for the upcoming holiday season.

Urban Canvas – Regina Downtown is responsible for facilitating a number of the great murals you see in throughout neighbourhood. APPLY

Regina Downtown also undertakes market and best practice research. This includes conducting and participating in studies and surveys on aspects of Downtown so that we can best address investment in and growth of the Downtown neighbourhood. We actively pursue best practice research from Downtown associations around the world, as well as information about successful projects and services.

Finally, Regina Downtown develops and participates in visioning for various projects and plans related to the Downtown neighbourhood.

Events Got an event idea? We want to help bring it to life!

Regina Downtown BID seeks to facilitate, attract, and promote events in the Downtown neighbourhood. We produce select signature events each year including the Concert Series and Cinema Under the Stars. We also act as an event facilitator to aid in the facilitation of other events happening Downtown.

Signature events

For more than ten years Regina Downtown has welcomed great local and Canadian talent to the summer stage on the F.W. Hill Mall – our pedestrian mall in the heart of the city. The Concert Series involves ten performances over the noon hour on select Thursdays between June and September. The Cinema Under the Stars is the movie event of the summer! Regina Downtown hosts this free, outdoor series over six nights throughout July and August. Bring a cozy blanket and your loved ones to Victoria Park for this family movie night with a twist. For sponsor information and movie titles and dates please check our event calendar.

Event Facilitation

Regina Downtown will aid in the facilitation of events Downtown – we are committed to offer time and consultation, we will liaise with the City of Regina and aid in the permitting process and other details of event planning.

Our partnership with the Regina Regional Opportunities Commission ensures that events happening Downtown have the best consultation from both parties including direction on grants and the planning process. We also offer use of the Summer Stage to groups and individuals who want to use it or include it in their event.

Activation

Regina Downtown also works diligently to program and activate our public spaces. Since 2009, we’ve led the Victoria Park Program. This program is focussed on hosting activities in Victoria Park throughout the summer. Whether it’s yoga, art in the park, or a karate demonstration, we partner with groups from around the city to bring vibrancy to the park for all to enjoy.

Regina Downtown BID offers a number of programs to its members, including the Graffiti Gone and the Urban Canvas programs.

Graffiti Gone

Graffiti Gone is a Regina Downtown BID program that provides assistance to members for prompt graffiti removal and/or graffiti removal consultation. The service is provided May 1, 2011 through September 15, 2011.

BROCHURE APPLICATION

Urban Canvas

Urban Canvas is a Regina Downtown BID program that provides matching grants, of up to $1,500, to RDBID members to develop murals in Downtown Regina. Murals may be placed on public or private structures. The goal is to engage the community in beautifying Downtown Regina, deter graffiti and promote a shared responsibility for graffiti prevention in Downtown Regina.
