The Regina Downtown Business Improvement District (RDBID) along with Heritage Regina is proud to announce the secound annual Downtown Regina Cultural Trailway on Saturday September 9, 2017. This walk will take place in Regina’s historic Victoria Park Conservation district an area of heritage buildings surrounding Victoria Park.

The Downtown Regina Cultural Trailway is an awarding winning walking tour of the downtown core that explores architecture, events and people that were integral in the shaping of downtown. Tour highlights include: downtown’s most prestigious building, Hotel Saskatchewan; and the devastating 1912 Tornado. It also touches on importance of the downtown’s conservation district and its heritage buildings, First Baptist Church, The Balfour Apartments, Knox Metropolitan Church, The Regina Central Library, The Federal Building and The Victoria Park Building.

“The Downtown Regina Cultural Trailway illustrates the rich history that our downtown core has to offer,” said Judith Veresuk, Executive Director of RDBID. “Regina Downtown is proud to be working in partnership with Heritage Regina to offer this tour.”

“The Cultural Trailway tour is to create awareness of the local history and allows the participant to further understand and experience the history of this great city,” Jackie Schmidt of Heritage Regina stated. “This tour adds further depth and insight to the history of Regina.”

This tour is part of a larger network of Cultural Trailways that will wind through Regina and joins the already complete Cathedral Village leg of the tour. It will be available as a brochure and map, through the izi.TRAVEL mobile app, as well as through the Regina Downtown website.

RDBID, along with Heritage Regina, invites the public to come out and participate in a free guided walking tour of downtown on Saturday, September 9th at 10am and 1pm. Each tour will last approximately 90 minutes and touch on highlights from the Cultural Trailway. The Regina Downtown Cultural Trailway was produced by the RDBID in partnership with Heritage Regina.
