Title: Visitor Services Coordinator

Wage: $19/hr

Length: May 25-August 31, 2021

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager of Visitor Services, the Visitor Services Coordinator is responsible for providing direction and supervision to the Info on the Go Team members and for the daily operation of the Downtown Regina Visitor Service Pavilion. This position also provides support to RDBID office staff by assisting at downtown events and conducting deliveries on behalf of Regina Downtown Business Improvement District (RDBID). The Visitor Service Coordinator position is seasonal from May to the end of August. 

Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Info on the Go Team Supervision
      • Provide leadership to the Info on the Go Team members; 
      • Coordinate all reporting documentation and input as directed by the Manager of Visitor Services;
      • Ensure that the team adheres to all safety measures; 
      • Support ongoing inspections of public areas in coordination with the Manager of Operations; and
      • Determine daily tasks for the Info on the Go Team and making sure tasks are completed correctly and efficiently; 
  • Responsible for the daily and weekly scheduling of the Info on the Go Team members;
  • Downtown Regina Visitor Service Pavilion (DRVSP) Operations 
      • Responsible for opening and closing of the DRVSP;
      • Ensure the DRVSP is staffed at all times between 10:00am-4:00pm Monday-Friday, Saturday 9am-1pm;
      • Provide customer service to the general public;
      • Respond/report any inquiries made by the general public about Downtown Regina;
      • Run scheduled programs out of the DRVSP; 
      • Maintain accurate reporting of those accessing the DRVSP; and
      • Ensure cleanliness of DRVSP.
  • Program Coordination
      • Ensure all summer programs/events run during the summer are adequately staffed;
      • Support the setup and takedown of RDBID programming and/or signature events;
      • Maintain accurate reporting and tracking of all downtown summer events and programs;  
  • Special Projects 
  • Assist with key partner organizations in preparation for downtown events.
  • Support the activation of an evening pedestrian count;  
    • Assist with the annual Infrastructure Deficit Survey;
    • Develop and maintain relationships with downtown members, program partners and City of Regina staff.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

The job is best suited for those interested or actively pursuing education in the areas of Hospitality, Tourism, Education, Human Justice, Social Sciences or Communications.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook;
  • Experience managing multiple priorities;
  • Must be able to adaptable;
  • Must possess strong team work, problem solving and communication skills;
  • Customer service experience;
  • Must possess a broad knowledge of office skills/procedures;
  • Must be physically capable of lifting up to 40lbs and being mobile for up to 4 hours at a time;
  • At least some experience in a leadership role;
  • Knowledge of downtown Regina considered an asset.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Fast paced environment;
  • Tight deadlines;
  • Constant communication with the public including tourists, downtown members and the vulnerable population; 
  • Working outdoors at least 50% of the time in a variety of weather conditions such as wind, heat, and light rain;
  • Physical labour for up to 4 hours a day;
  • Standing for up to 4 hours a day; 
  • Sitting for up to 6 hours a day; and
  • Evening and weekend work required during special events.

Title: Planning Coordinator

Wage: $20/hr, 35hrs/wk

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Planning Coordinator is responsible for assisting with key projects that support the Regina Downtown Business Improvement District (RDBID) Strategic Plan goals and objectives.  This position will be responsible for downtown business retention/recruitment research and urban planning project coordination.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Downtown Economic Development Research
      • Research trends and best practices for BID-led initiatives to support downtown business; 
      • Research best practices for adaptive reuse of former department stores/YMCA; 
      • Research interim uses for vacant land in downtown;
      • Consolidate and report findings.
  • Annual Pedestrian Count
      • Assist with pedestrian counter coordination and scheduling;
      • Liaise with downtown property owners on pedestrian count day
      • Compile pedestrian count results and produce final report
  • Internal Policy Development Assistance
      • Assist with meeting coordination and reporting;
      • Research best practice policies within industry.
  • RDBID Strategic Plan Coordination Assistance
      • Assist with meeting coordination;
      • Assist with membership and general population surveys;
      • Planning, organizing and scheduling meetings with stakeholders.
  • Planning Research
    • Research downtown vibrancy indicators including, but not limited to property value assessments, vacancy rates, and demographics.

Preferred Qualifications:

The job is best suited for those interested or actively pursuing education in the areas of Business, Urban Planning or Communications.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook;
  • Experience multitasking and prioritizing assignments;
  • Experience in a leadership role considered an asset;
  • Must be able to adapt quickly to changes;
  • Must possess strong team work, problem solving and communication skills;
  • Customer service experience;
  • Broad knowledge of office skills/procedures; and
  • Knowledge of downtown Regina considered an asset.

  • Working independent with minimal supervision, remote work station may be considered;
  • Sitting for up to 6 hours a day;
  • Constant communication with the public including tourists, downtown member and the vulnerable population; and
