“I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice-cream!”

In any country, any language, ice-cream is a popular dessert.

In any shape or form, ice-cream is simple to make and simple to serve to everyone which makes it the perfect treat for families, parties or other events.

Ice cream is or was often originally based on cow’s milk, cream and sugar. There are now alternatives like frozen yogurt, sherbet and iced milk (we also have had to adapt to the dairy alternatives with goat’s or sheep’s milk). Other milk substitutes include soy, cashew, coconut, almond milk or tofu which are available for people who are lactose intolerant, allergic to dairy protein or for those who are vegan.

Ice cream contains vitamins. It also provides us with lots of energy and is rich in carbohydrates, fats and proteins! It comes in many shapes, forms, containers and dishes.

The team at RDBIDventures got to go to Fresh Carnival. That was a sweet treat!

During the experience, this poem popped into my head. I hope you enjoy it,  and just like ice-cream, this poem is for everyone!

The poem is by Shel Silverstein, a American writer, poet, cartoonist, songwriter and playwright. Click on the poem title to view the whole poem!

Eighteen Flavors from “Where the Sidewalk Ends”

Unlike the ending to that poem, at Fresh Carnival you can’t drop your cone, because they have the best solution – The Tallest Sundae in Town!

Come and check out the size, the flavours and all of the toppings of Fresh Carnival’s Freak Shakes!

When looking at the shakes, Sophie from the team at the Business Improvement District exclaimed, “Oh dear, that’s a lot of sugar!”

Our server smiled at us and simply stated, “Yeah we kinda do that around here!”

Kalli, one of the establishment’s many friendly servers told us about some of the past Freak Shake featured flavours: Nanaimo Bar and Key Lime Pie! Also that Fresh Carnival does holiday themes: Valentine’s Day, Halloween, Christmas and more!

She told us that one of the current flavours – Unicorn Freak Shake – is so cute with marshmallow ears and cotton candy!

Come to Fresh Carnival! Do a taste test, take some sweet pics and get your sugar fix!

Regina is in a heat wave at the moment, but whether it is hot or cold outside, a Freak Shake is good on any day and in any season!

The fun video below, is what I call a different generation’s version of a TikTok from the American 1986 black-and-white independent film written and directed by Jim Jarmusch starring Tom Waits, John Lurie, and Italy’s one and only Roberto Benigni: actor, comedian, screenwriter and director.

The Regina Downtown Business Improvement District would like to treat you to a sweet treat!

So come to the window at The Pavilion on the west side of The Pat Fiacco Plaza and ask the team for a nice ice-cream sandwich on July 22 – from 12:00 to 1:00 while supplies last!

Remember to make your sidewalk start with a sundae on a Sunday or any other day of the week at Fresh Carnival.

What ice-cream flavour will you be treating yourself to in Regina Downtown this weekend? Let us know!
